NASHVILLE, Tenn. (November 3, 2023) – Singer-songwriter Kurt Stevens is a passionate advocate for our troops and veterans, and he has released a moving and patriotic song titled “Cost of Freedom” today. The song’s inspiration comes from a deep-seated admiration and respect for those who serve in the armed forces, as well as a desire to bridge divides and unite the Nation in support of our military heroes. In a world marked by conflicts overseas and divisions at home, Kurt Stevens felt a compelling need to create a non-partisan anthem that pays tribute to the sacrifices made by the brave individuals who risk their lives to protect our Nation and its freedoms. “Cost of Freedom” is his heartfelt response to this calling.

The song opens with the line, “excuse me sir, I couldn’t help but notice that Vietnam Vet hat on your head,” capturing the essence of what inspired this song. Kurt Stevens is dedicated to expressing his gratitude to veterans and active-duty military personnel whenever he sees them wearing insignia such as a “Vietnam Veteran” hat or shirt. This song is an extension of that gratitude.

Not content with just words, Stevens is taking concrete action to support our troops and veterans. He has pledged to donate 50 percent of the song’s streaming and YouTube revenue to multiple military charities, providing much-needed assistance to those who have served our country.

Squared Away, a company known for employing military spouses, contributed by sending in pictures and videos of their active military and veteran family members and friends to be included in the music video. Kurt’s dedicated fanbase also played an essential role by submitting their images, which feature prominently in the video. The “Cost of Freedom” video is a touching tribute to our troops and veterans, with the images of these heroes taking center stage.

Stevens also partnered with Codeword Hats, a company based in Nashville, Tennessee. Together, they designed a signature hat, featured in the song’s album art and video. This hat serves as a visual reminder of the commitment to honoring our military and is more than just an accessory; it’s a symbol of support and gratitude. Kurt Stevens is planning a social media giveaway of these signature hats to create more awareness about the song and video. Additionally, he will be selling the hats online, with a portion of the proceeds dedicated to supporting veterans’ charities. For more information, please visit kurtstevensmusic.com.

About Kurt Stevens
A Florida native, Kurt Stevens is bringing his own brand of chilled-out South Florida beach vibes to the rough backroad sounds of Nashville. “To me, good music is about an emotional reaction. Whether it’s about the good times, being with friends on a boat, or heartbreak, it has to be honest enough that the listener feels it.” Turning heads on the local circuit and proving himself ready for the big leagues, Stevens’ track ‘I Already Know’ became a playlist favorite upon release in early 2019, landing on Spotify’s ‘New Boots’ playlist and earning over 1 million streams across all platforms. Kurt was also named one of CMT’s “Listen Up Artists”.  As a brand ambassador for Papa’s Pilar Rum, Kurt is about to embark on the 3rd annual “Pilar & Guitar Tour” throughout Florida and the Florida Keys. His tour schedule has found him headlining at the Martin County Fair, Indian River County Fair, and Hooked on Music Festival; as well as opening up for name acts like Dustin Lynch, The Band Perry, Maren Morris, and Luke Combs. When he’s not writing and performing, Stevens, ever the Floridian, always likes to come back to the sea. “My passion is being outside on the water. Fishing and surfing…” he expresses smoothly, “There’s something about the ocean. No matter what you’re going through, you can go out on the ocean and feel how small you are – how small your problems really are against this vastness. It’s humbling and grounding.”
