NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 10, 2026) – Lauded singer/songwriter and Country hitmaker David Nail is saying “Fare Thee Well” in his latest release. Written by Nail with Trent Dabbs and producer Anderson East, the song tells the story of a man leaving behind a relationship in Alabama, recognizing that staying would only continue to hurt the person he cares about most. With this release, Nail taps into a deep emotional vulnerability, continuing to deliver the kind of storytelling that has become a signature of his artistry, authentic, heartfelt, and unmistakably his own.
So it’s goodbye, Alabama
I guess only time will tell
I’ve had all that I can manage
Fare thee well
“This was the first time Anderson and I added a third writer, and Trent came in with the vibe. I can’t even remember how we got on the title/idea, but I remember immediately thinking, ‘this is something my father would’ve listened to when I was a kid!’ It had immediate nostalgia, and the melody is so easy on the ears,” said David Nail.
This past week, David sat down with Ian Saint from Buddy Magazine who wrote: “David Nail has accomplished several facets of what many consider ‘the dream’: multiple Gold singles (and the Double Platinum ‘Whatever She’s Got’), a decade-spanning major label discography, dream collaborations — Vince Gill, Brothers Osborne, Lee Ann Womack, and Miranda Lambert to name a few — and even touring with Taylor Swift (who tweeted that his ‘Red Light’ was her ‘new favorite’ song), including one of the future Eras Tour juggernaut’s first stadium headlining shows.”
In support of the new music, Nail is currently on his intimate “Down To The Studs Tour.” Performing both his hits and recent releases, including “The Crown,” which dropped on March 6, and has already been widely acclaimed by fans and industry insiders alike, he continues to build strong momentum with each new track. The solo acoustic tour has him visiting small-capacity venues across the country, offering audiences a stripped-down experience, just a guitar, the stories behind the songs, and Nail’s unmistakable voice. About David Nail
David Nail is a multi-platinum singer-songwriter from Kennett, Missouri, known for his deeply personal songwriting and unmistakable vocal prowess. With GRAMMY and ACM nominations, he has scored multiple No. 1 hits, including “Let It Rain” and “Whatever She’s Got,” along with standout favorites like “Red Light.” His success has earned RIAA certifications, more than 1 billion streams on Pandora, and a reputation for delivering songs that resonate long after the last note fades. After building a respected career in Nashville with albums such as I’m About To Come Alive, The Sound of a Million Dreams, I’m A Fire, and Fighter, Nail stepped into a more independent chapter that prioritized honesty over expectations. Recent projects such as Oh, Mother, the Bootheel releases, and 2023’s Best of Me reflect a more organic, reflective approach, with songs centered on family, memory, mental health, and the hard-earned perspective that comes with experience.
In 2026, Nail continues that evolution with his new single “The Crown” and his intimate “Down To The Studs Tour,” where he performs solo — just a guitar, stories, and songs — reconnecting with audiences in listening rooms and small theaters across the country. Known for turning lived-in lyrics into emotionally resonant performances, Nail remains guided by a simple philosophy: stay truthful, keep growing, and make music that means something long after the moment passes.
