The singer reflects on how he once thought he didn’t need anybody, until love showed up and changed everything. Now he knows how much he depends on that person for happiness and support, and he admits pride can keep people from appreciating the blessings right in front of them. It’s a song of gratitude and love, and of knowing life would be much harder without love.
I’d be back on the bottom with no hill to climb
If not for your love, I’d be out of my mind
I can’t see the future but given that view
I know where I’d be without you
Randy and his longtime label home, Warner Records Nashville, have already released four singles from Same Old Way, “Fish On,” “I Don’t Care,” “Set The Blues Back,” and the title track, which have received praise and anticipation from outlets like Entertainment Tonight, Parade, Billboard, Whiskey Riff, Country Central, Holler, All Country News, and many more.
“The songs waited in a vault in Los Angeles, some for as long as 40 years. But now, thanks to a curious music producer and a star who lost his voice but never his vision, those songs have emerged from the ranks of the unheard.” – The Tennessean
“This track cleverly references so many great artists and offers a strong vocal performance from Travis… it perfectly embodies the carefree, fun feeling that so many great classic country songs did.” – Country Central on “Set The Blues Back”
“Same Old Way’ is a smooth, whiskey-tinted, steel-soaked number full of heartbreak. Travis’ inimitable vocals have been recaptured perfectly as they lilt over bluesy guitars and a southern sway.” – Holler
“Country music has long been known for songs of love and loss, but I don’t know that anyone but Randy Travis has ever dealt with it in such an honest and direct way. Just look at the heartbeat of the song.” – Forbes on “I Don’t Care”
“The infectious melody, coupled with an excellent recapturing of Travis’ iconic vocals, makes the track an undeniably fun outing from the living legend.” – Whiskey Riff on “Fish On”

About Randy Travis
With his first No. 1, 1986’s “On The Other Hand,” Randy Travis helped usher in a new traditionalist movement in modern country music. With his resonant baritone and pure music sense, “On The Other Hand” and “Forever and Ever, Amen” won back-to-back Country Music Association Song of the Year Awards on the way to selling more than 25 million albums, seven Grammys, 23 No. 1 hits, 31 Top 10s, and a 2016 induction into the Country Music Hall of Fame. Following a near-fatal stroke in 2013, the four-decade Grand Ole Opry member’s recovery and enduring commitment to fans and the music has inspired millions. It has also earned him CMT: Country Music Television’s Artist of a Lifetime in 2021 and Academy of Country Music’s Milestone Award in 2025.
With groundbreaking AI assistance, “Where That Came From” was released by his longtime home, Warner Records Nashville, in 2024. The record launched a new chapter of advocacy as Randy and his wife, Mary, used it as a platform to champion creators’ rights and responsible AI protections for artists. His More Life Tour with his longtime band and guest vocalist James Dupré continues, allowing Travis to bring his music to generations of true country fans.
