LOS ANGELES, Calif. (September 21, 2026) – A year after the hit-making singer’s passing, “Joy to the World: Celebrate Chuck Negron” will be held at the iconic Whisky A Go Go on February 2, 2027, at 7 p.m. The evening will feature an all-star house band and special guests to be announced. Chuck Negron passed away peacefully in Los Angeles on February 2, 2026, at the age of 83, and this celebration will take place on the anniversary of his death. Whisky a Go Go is where Three Dog Night made their official concert debut in 1968.
In addition to the program, there will be a silent auction with proceeds benefiting CRI-Help, a substance abuse disorder treatment center supporting adults and families seeking freedom from addiction, which Chuck credited with saving his life and continued to support throughout his years in recovery.
A veteran of the music industry for over six decades, he became widely known as an original founding member of Three Dog Night along with Danny Hutton and Cory Wells. His lead vocals appear on classics like “Joy To The World (Jeremiah Was A Bullfrog),” “One (Is The Loneliest Number),” “Easy To Be Hard,” “Old Fashioned Love Song,” “The Show Must Go On,” and more.
With heavy drug use rampant during their quick ascension to the top, Negron developed an addiction that took it a step too far. Negron’s addiction overtook him; he spent his fortune on drugs and even ended up on Los Angeles’ notorious Skid Row for a time. After 31 failed rehabilitation attempts, he finally got clean and sober in 1991 and went on to have a successful solo career, releasing seven albums between 1995 and 2017. He released a highly acclaimed book, “Three Dog Nightmare,” in 1999, an honest account of the ups and downs of his life, in which he took responsibility for his struggles and reflected on his road to redemption.
Negron continued touring as a solo artist through 2019, including six summers on the highly successful Happy Together Tour.
The evening will be a celebration of Chuck’s life, his achievements, and the struggles he overcame, not a tribute, but a heartfelt celebration of a man whose music and life touched millions.
