AMANDA COOKSEY CALLS OUT FLIGHTY EX FROM THE WINDY CITY IN NEW SINGLE “CHICAGO”

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (April 30, 2021) — Singer-Songwriter Amanda Cooksey’s newest release “Chicago” is about a love lost in the Windy City that doesn’t quite add up. When relationships end you think about the reasons why and, often, that is when certain things reveal themselves. Specifically, when the other person moves-on quickly… The relatable lyrics, written by Cooksey and Jason Saenz, will resonate with anyone who has experienced a breakup that left them with so many questions. Amanda’s unique sound and style, reminiscent of a mix of her inspirations Taylor Swift and Julia Michaels, radiate through in this song. Even without the baggage of a bad breakup, the ethereal overtones, catchy riffs, strong piano and pop-influenced baseline will have anyone listening on repeat. Listen to the song here!
“My last two releases were about the same breakup I went through a few years ago. ‘Chicago’ is a continuation of that story and it is definitely the most vulnerable song out of the trilogy. After the relationship ended, my ex started seeing someone from Chicago and he happened to be in that city right before our breakup. So, the song for me is about the stage of a breakup when you’re searching for answers to get closure, but end up creating scenarios in your mind that can drive you a little crazy,” said Cooksey.
With multiple degrees from Belmont and the University of Florida, Cooksey understands the business side of music as much as she excels in the creative. She has seen success with previous releases, including “Yo Mama” and “What’s His Name,” both of which have been supported by Spotify and the former Radio Disney Country. Also, her cover of Louis Tomlinson’s “Just Like You” was praised by Tomlinson himself and featured by Glamour Magazine online.
About Amanda Cooksey
Born and raised in Orlando, Florida, Amanda Cooksey took piano lessons and loved to sing. This led her to Ron Feldman, a vocal and piano instructor, whose guidance eventually landed Amanda on NSAI’s Ones To Watch list in 2013. During this time, Amanda participated in pagents, leading her to a passion for philanthropy. She has been involved with Make A Wish Foundation, Ovarian Cancer Alliance and Tunes for Tots to fundraise for various cancer foundations. With Ron’s encouragement, Amanda decided she wanted to attend Belmont University, where she earned two degrees in Business Administration and Songwriting. Shortly into her freshman year, her mentor, Ron, was diagnosed with brain cancer and passed away. To this day, Amanda credits him for her successes. Upon moving to Nashville, Amanda connected with hit writers Marty Dodson and Clay Mills, who soon became her mentors, as well as Rick Barker, who helped Amanda with her social media following and navigating the music industry. Through GRAMMY U, Amanda worked with Marc Driskill at Sea Gayle Music and had her song co-written with Dallas Remington, “Found Her Freedom,” published in Music Row Magazine. She attended Durango Songwriters Expo, where her song “Girl in the Mirror,” won second place in their Write A Hitmaker contest. After graduating, Amanda worked part-time in A&R and PR at Demolition Music where she continues to manage their catalog. Throughout the pandemic, she has been consistently connecting with and growing her fan base through playing music on Facebook and Instagram Live, where her rendition of Louis Tomilson’s “Just Like You” received notice. Her previous singles have been supported by Radio Disney Country and Spotify editorial playlists such as Wild Country, Pop-Co and Young Nashville. She recently received her Master’s in Public relations from the University of Florida and continues to be creative every day, humbled by every opportunity that comes her way through doing what she loves.
