NASHVILLE, Tenn. (November 21, 2017) – Nashville’s all-female singer/songwriter showcase, Song Suffragettes, featuring Kalie Shorr, Lacy Cavalier, Lena Stone and others, brings a distinct take on Keith Urban’s highly-deliberated song (as reported in The Washington Post), “Female,” with a powerful cover video. The group has partnered with LiveYourDream.org, aligning with their own motto #LetTheGirlsPlay, to encourage the support of females from all walks of life. The Suffragettes’ version of the song can be download on iTunes and streamed on Spotify.

“When I first heard the song, I was really emotionally impacted by its message,” co-producer and Song Suffragette Kalie Shorr explains. “Keith is so vocal about supporting the women in country music but he also actually DOES something about it. I have so much respect for him. I’m so happy with the group of girls who came together for this video and I’m so proud of the final product. They are all incredible musicians and making music with your friends is always so fun; but what made this really special is that the success of this video is shared success and we all get to celebrate together. We believe that all ships rise and this is such a great example of how women can support each other which is what Song Suffragettes and #LetTheGirlsPlay is all about.”

Since releasing their version of “Female” last Wednesday, there have been over 75,000 combined views of the video, Radio Disney Country added the song to their playlist and Apple Music placed the song onto their Breaking Country, Cool Country and Country Chill playlists. This intense interest prompted Song Suffragettes to rush to make the song available on all streaming platforms and available for purchase digitally on iTunes with all proceeds benefiting LiveYourDream.org.

This inspiring cover of “Female” comes at a time when voices of advocacy are needed the most, joining the conversation of gender inequality and sexual assault in the entertainment industry. The video has received praise-worthy media attention, including a Twitter shout out from Urban himself.

“Hey @SongSuffragette – LOVE this cover!!! You all ROCK!” – Keith Urban via Twitter.

“Song Suffragettes are even better equipped than Urban himself to tackle this topic, so they’ve recorded their own version of the song.” – Rolling Stone Country

“Rising country women teamed up to cover Keith Urban’s “Female,” and the result is an unexpected, perhaps unexplainable, three minutes of harmony and emotion.” – Taste of Country

“The most powerful cover of the song yet.” – One Country

“fantastic” – The Morning Hangover

“It slays! The song takes on a greater meaning when it is performed by these young women, and when they hit those harmonies … holy goodness! Y’all sure make us feel good about the future!” – Rare Country

“These girls have long fought for their places in the country music industry, and once again, they are showing just how deserving they are.” – NashvilleGab

Shorr, who arranged and co-produced the video, has been an avid proponent for women throughout her career with empowering songs such as her breakout hit, “Fight Like a Girl.” Her most recent release, “Two Hands,” discusses the importance of finding a partner who accepts and loves your flaws.

The Song Suffragettes’ version of “Female” features eight distinct voices on the track:
Kalie ShorrLacy Green, Lena Stone, Lacy Cavalier, Kim Paige, Tiera, Savannah Keyes and Tasji Bachman.

For the video, there are an additional seven Song Suffragettes featured:
